Once is Not Enough... Recycle

This doll house came to my door as a gift box for an orchid

The first thing I did was put in two cardboard shelves

(I haven't figured out the roof just yet)

I painted quite a few layers of pink to cover the box

and then used a piece of cardboard 

to mark the door and windows on the sides

I haven't done much to the insides as yet

just a few embellishments from more of the cardboard

and some pieces I had lying around as temporary furniture

This is very much a work-in-progress

and I'm in discussions with my nieces about the future decor

we plan to continue the recycled theme

Deep Pink

I like to use my head for thoughts - big, complex and deep
I think all the long day, at night I never sleep
I'm pretty sure that if I keep going down that road
any moment now, my head will just explode

Orange is the New Black

For Passover this year I went with an orange-yellow theme

to complement the beautiful spring we are having

I naturally began with a trip to my local nursery

I planted Tagettes in paper cups in painted them with watercolors

and made mini-doillies for the candles

(the rest of the table - tablecloth, napkins, etc. - was white)

I made a couple of gift bags from an old movie poster

and cut pineapples for desert

and my niece Dana made an orange drawing and dressed to match!

Happy Birthday Avital!

For Avital's birthday I made her a new TV blanket

we celebrated today and I gave it to her

some of the wool has a silver thread woven in and it shimmers

I'm not sure you can see it in the photos

I folded the blanket and put in some lavender sachets before wrapping it

so that it would smell sweet when she opened the package

The Worried Toys

Spring has arrived and armed with a broom

On the Beach

I have a new obsession - 

a (very) early morning walk on the beach

I feel as if I've stumbled on a secret world

of earnest and industrious people

like a secret club

It is making my whole day better

and where I go, my camera goes with me
